Got Gutter Streaks?

Unsightly black streaking is a fairly common problem on aluminum gutter products. If you've ever tried to remove them yourself, you probably know how difficult it can be.
We can successfully remove gutter streaks. by using specially formulated cleaning solutions that allow us to clean them with very little to no agitation.
In some circumstances, when the gutters are badly oxidized, gutter streak removal would not be recommended because at that point, the paint would be to fragile, and repainting would actually be a better option.

How do I know if my home or business needs exterior cleaning?

Generally here in the Jacksonville FL area, annual cleanings are recommended. The humidity plus overall climate conditions, allow for very quick accumulation of mold, mildew, and algae. Also, it usually only takes a couple of the summer months for the huge bug population to take over the exterior of your home or business. Staying on top these issues before they get too out of hand is always recommended.

Why not clean it myself?

Despite what the folks at the big home centers would like you to think, exterior pressure washing, soft washing, or roof cleaning is not something that most people should try tackling themselves.
Even amongst the professionals, it can literally take years of experience and thousands of jobs before many reach a high level of competency in these trades.
Simply buying a small pressure washer does not qualify a person to have the appropriate knowledge or skill that it takes to achieve quality results, and more importantly, to achieve those quality results safely.

Do You Have A Garden Growing
 In Your Gutters?

One of the most overlooked areas on the exterior of a home that should be cleaned regularly is the gutters and downspouts. More than likely the reason for this is the “out of site, out of mind” syndrome that effects many home owners. Most people simply can't see how bad it is, so they tend to overlook it.

The problem is, letting it go unchecked can cause an array of serious issues, some of which can cost you a lot of money in repairs in the long run. The biggest issues that can arise by not having your gutters cleaned out regularly are wood rot and water damage. It is important that a gutter remain free flowing to prevent back ups, because these back ups can rot adjacent wood trim around the fascia, or even wood areas where the backed up water may regularly overflow, which could be against the house, or maybe onto a wood deck under the gutter system.

A full gutter can cause other problems to the gutters themselves. When a gutter gets packed with leaves and debris, and soon after it rains a few times, eventually you end up with a mess of decaying leaves, dirt, rooting saplings from near by trees, and a lot of retained water that just sits in the gutter growing an array of bacteria, fungus, mold and just about anything else you can probably imagine and some things that you don't want to imagine.

All of that nasty, wet, mucky, mess can actually weigh quite a bit. Gutters are not designed to hold that amount of weight indefinitely, so over time, they will begin to sag and either come detached from the house completely in some areas, or allow even more water to accumulate because the proper slope of the gutter has been permanently altered. Now you will be calling a gutter installer to either come out and repair the gutters, or have the gutters replaced completely. Of course that can add up to quite an expense.

Another thing that is often not considered when thinking of the benefits of having clean gutters is that creepy crawlers seem to love a loaded, dirty gutter. Over the many years that we've been cleaning gutters, we've seen just about every nasty little creature you could ever not want to encounter in the depths of layered filth that make up a loaded gutter. This includes: roaches, spiders, earth worms, ants, frogs, lizards, wasp and bee's nests, mosquito larva, and even the occasional snake.

The solution to prevent all these potential issues from becoming a reality, is to have your gutters cleaned out regularly. There are many gutter guard products on the market today, but we have yet to find any that we believe are a solid solution. The mesh gutter guards always end up collapsing in certain areas, and/or get pine straw, sticks and other debris lodged in the crevices. The gutter helmet type gutter guards solve the problem of debris getting lodged in them, but in the kind of heavy Florida rains that we get regularly here in the Jacksonville area, the water will regularly tend to roll over the edge of the gutter which defeats the purpose of the gutter to begin with. Then there's the gutter filters, but they simply don't allow the water to flow freely enough. No, the best solution for gutters is to have them cleaned a couple of times a year. Besides, on average, it would take you as much as 10 years of paying someone to clean your gutters to equal what in can cost you to have one of the more expensive gutter guard systems installed. By that time, you may need new gutters anyway.
